      • No email was sent promoting the updates
        • Al thinks people were registering late
      • 3-four team pools in the men’s tourney Saturday
        • This tournament did not meet the point minimum
  • Minimum Points per Team is 160 for a full day tournament
    • Board cannot find this documented in old minutes or TD guide
    • If the rule was not published, its not enforceable
    • Jeff motions that the minimum amount of play is 168 points for a regular day tournament
      • Jonah seconds

      • Sam seconds
      • For: Unanimous
    • Discussion of instant re-rates regarding men rating women and women rating men
      • Jeff motions to amend the rules so that the decision to instantly re-rate a player must not need to be a joint decision by TD and rater; sole discretion is at the hands of the rater

      • Is it possible to adjust skeleton to incorporate the day of the weekend as a factor?
      • Jeff recommends that it be announced pre-draft that TDs should keep in mind that many high level players coach JOs which have tournaments on Sunday
    • Judy’s thoughts (via email)
      • Find an equation for the draft that benefits the legit longtime tournament directors.
        • Per Jonah, new TDs are on a probationary period for the first draft period they are in
      • Perhaps allowing TDs that have been successfully running tournament for 5+ years the opportunity to draft 100 team spots, 3+ years running 60 team spots, newbies only 30....or something like this OR get rid of the draft completely like we used to.
        • The draft was started to get more TDs; maybe it's time for free enterprise.
        • Per Jonah – should not be free enterprise or give long term TDs any more benefits
      • Jeff is examining options to include a geographical factor into the skeleton system
    • Will continue to discuss at future meetings
  • Uniforms
    • Bruno is concerned about referee consistency regarding libero uniforms
    • Chet has requested Steve Webster get the information out to BAVP again regarding the rules and the interpretation
    • The tournament head referee has the final decision on all uniforms
  • Nationals Mappings
    • Per David Castanon (email)
      • The minimum for regional BB should be right after the maximum for regional B. In the past, we never worried about minimums for National ratings; minimums were introduced only for Yankee-championships, when you had 9 levels of championships. This should be corrected immediately.
      • Somehow, we seem to have extended those to the USAV regionals.
      • Jay motions that the minimums be lowered so that the ranges are contiguous, effective immediately
        • Sam seconds
          • For: Mark, Jeff, Chuck, Daniel, Jay, Sam
          • Against: Jonah
        • Motion Passes
    • Per Krissy Norman (via email)
      • I think it should be brought to the board attentions they keep an eye out on the different levels at Nationals and think about the current mappings especially the B and BB. I think the B level should be allowed 3 B women as the competition seems to be getting stronger. Same with the BB
        • Per Jonah: Women’s B mapping should be adjusted for next year and will work with Dave for next year to adjust.
  • Ratings (per Don Cohen via email)
    • Why can you only have 4 Bs if you’re going to B nationals. Is it time to try again to address the nomenclature of ratings?
      • First change
        • D becomes D
        • C- become DD
        • C becomes C
        • C+ become CC
        • B- becomes B
        • B becomes BB
        • B+ becomes A
        • becomes AA
        • A/A+ become AAA or Open
      • Second Step
        • Change tournament mappings to match nationals mappings CC and below stay the same old +3. That way, teams can play all year together and prepare for nationals.
    • Discussion ensues
      • Our largest membership rating is C+ and so the Yankee ratings system works for the majority of our members
  • Nationals
    • 55 down from 67 last year
    • Only 1 UVolley
    • Coed is down
    • Using championship results to rank teams
    • Need an OPEN 2010 update at next meeting
  • Championships
    • Chet needs help getting teams for championships at some of the lower level
    • Requests GRC gets scramble players involved with championships
    • Chet wants to then have GRC push on different levels to get teams organized
  • Picnic
    • June 7
    • Same food as last year
    • DJ – taking recommendations - $500 stipend; 9-4; including emcee responsibilities
    • Chet getting shirts for picnic staff/volunteers to wear
    • Chet will work with Tom Sweeney to create online picnic registration
    • Will contact BSSC
  • Mileage reimbursement
    • Board has not received this yet
