NVC beach volleyball tournaments 2008

New for this year, we have added a COED Open Division with cash prizes (that's a men's net in case you didn't know). Also, do to the small sizes of the Men/Women BB & B divisions we have combined them to just B. We had so much fun with the Retro Weekend, it's back July 12-13.

All events are to be held in Newport RI at Easton's Beach unless noted otherwise on the schedule.

BVA Jump Training Clinic

Boston Volleyball has partnered with Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning to offer a new training program specifically for volleyball players! This is an opportunity for athletes who want to gain an edge over the competition and improve individual skills, physical conditioning level, and mental toughness. In addition to a strong emphasis on improving leg strength and jumping techniques, the BVA FLIGHT SCHOOL program will focus on strengthening core abdominals, and keeping your shoulder healthy.

The focus will be on athletic improvement while keeping you INJURY FREE. You may have tried other copy cat programs, now come train with the professionals

TRAIN WITH THE PRO'S
* Over 100 1st, 2nd and 3rd round draft picks from the NHL, NFL, and MLB
* 40 medalists from the '98 and '02 Olympics
* 25 NFL athletes, including 14 athletes with Superbowl game appearances
* Multiple athletes in World Cup and Summer Olympic Games

Athletes will receive instruction in dynamic/functional movement training including:

. Linear and Lateral Speed Development
. Improve Foot Speed and Agility
. Explosive Power Development
. Core Abdominal Strength

AVP Crocs Tour Announces 2008 Schedule

The AVP tour schedule was released today and the sad news is that they are not coming back to Boston this year. The rumor has it that construction at last years location hampered the event from returning this summer. The AVP will host 18 events this year from Florida to New York and back to Southern California. The AVP will also observe its 25th anniversary July 19, 2008; the celebration will last throughout the season.

The 2008 AVP Crocs Tour includes 18 stops -- 17 regular-season events and one post-regular season event -- to determine the best of the beach in Glendale, Ariz. Tickets to all 2008 Tour events will be available at http://www.avp.com.

Head Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Coach

Elms College, a NCAA Division III institution in Chicopee, MA and a member of the North Atlantic Conference and North East Collegiate Volleyball Association New England Division, invites applications for the position of Head Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Coach. This is a full-time, benefited, 9-month position with a start date of August 15, 2008. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the coach will be responsible for organizing, developing and administering all phases of the volleyball programs, including budget preparation and the supervision of a part-time assistant coach, with an emphasis on recruitment of student athletes and daily instruction in practice. The successful candidate must be dedicated to building a successful, respected program and exhibit a strong commitment toward adhering to Elms College policies and guidelines. There will also be an administrative component with this position.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field. Previous experience in coaching, preferably at the College level, is essential. The candidate must possess a thorough understanding and working knowledge of NCAA Division III regulations. Background check will be conducted. A valid driver’s license required.
