Pat Powers Volleyball Clinic

Here is a quick reminder about a clinic I will be doing on Saturday & Sunday, May 9-10! Feel free to forward this e-mail to your team and volley-friends. Have a great Spring!

Olympic Gold Medalist Pat Powers will be coming to Boston on May 9-10 to present his highly successful 12-hour clinic for advanced skill development.

Where: Bridgewater State College
When: Saturday & Sunday, May 9-10. Saturday
9AM-4PM & Sunday 9AM-2PM
Ages: Girls & Boys ages 12-18 & Adults
Registration fee: $140
Experience: Novice through advanced. Players are
divided up on three courts one hour into the event. Generally speaking, we have one court of 12-13 year olds (novice), one court of
14-16 year olds
and one court of advanced girls, boys and adults.

Why is this clinic the best? The "over-correction" learning method combined with "Survivor" has the advantage of skill development while you are playing. These advanced skills are downloaded into the motor memory through massive repetition while the player is competing in a non-intimidating environment. Note: This clinic is not about competition. It is about skill development.

******We have about 25 spots left for this event*****************

WHAT IS COVERED IN THE CLINIC

** Learn the mechanics of a perfect arm swing.
** Learn how to control the ball, control power and be quicker with one simple move while underhand passing.
** Setters: Learn what to look at and how to make your hitters better.
** Defensive players: Learn what NOT to look at when you play defense.
** Peripheral vision is a must in all sports! Learn how we use it in volleyball.
** Learn four simple rules of communication that teach you how to think three seconds ahead and make the players around you better.
** And Much More.............

Beach Volleyball MOVIE Green Flash (2009)

I was just given this link; http://www.novamov.com/video/49b19e283cef3
It is brand new movie about beach volleyball, specifically the AVP tour. It is a full length 90 minute movie.
I do not know why its available for free on the internet, but it is. I didn't ask any questions, I just watched it.
(shhh!)
The story line for the movie is below.
I don't know how long this movie will be available, but you can watch the whole thing on your computer.
I just wanted to let you know as volleyball movies are rare.
Watch it at your own risk, you didn't hear about this from me,
Keith (vballnews)

Green Flash (2009)

At the ripe old age of 30, Cameron Day has given up his chances at pro-basketball fame and settled into an aimless life. A chance encounter with a beautiful woman lands him smack in the middle of Southern California's pro beach volleyball scene. A naturally talented true athlete, he seems destined for sports stardom once again until his old demons start creeping in, threatening his chances at success. Written by Casting
"Green Flash" follows the triumphant rise and self-discovery of Cameron Day, a former college basketball star whose once uncanny ability to master the playing fields around him comes at one small price, his sanity. Cameron has never been able to balance his unique gift of greatness with the tormenting mental sacrifice it requires of him. When he's in "the zone" his world is perfect. It slows down for him and a light shines a path on success. But to get there brings out an anger and a fear that tears his outer world apart. Now, after a mysterious ten year disappearance from the athletic world he once dominated, we find Cameron Day desperate to give greatness another go around. He's determined to become an elite athlete once again, but this time Cameron sets his sites on ruling the pro beach volleyball circuit. From Manhattan, New York to Manhattan Beach, California, Cameron's journey is inspired by an artistic beach beauty named Mia, who - despite her unwillingness to date jock types - leads Cameron down a path of self awareness and enlightens him on the phenomenon of the Green Flash: a fleeting moment of brilliance in nature. On the tour, Cameron makes new friends, Kenny, and new enemies, Madden, but a cut throat world filled with clamoring to get ahead leaves everybody questioning, who is who and which is which? In his maddening pursuit of victory at the grand daddy of all tournaments, The Manhattan Beach Open, Cameron is forced to determine who he can trust by his tormented side as he sets out to not only win, but to face his demons in his own quest for a fleeting moment of brilliance.

Join AVP champion AL-B Hannemann and other pros and escape the cold weather and treat yourself to a week of fun in the sun. This 8th annual trip is unique because we only take a small group of 30 people and show everyone Oahu from the locals perspective. It is a much more intimate trip and you will spend quality time on and off the courts.

We are staying at the perfectly located Resort Quest Waikiki Beach Hotel
right across the street from the volleyball courts. This hotel is home to
the famous "tiki bar and grill" which we frequent often to watch perfect
sunsets while listening to local live music. They also are known for
their amazing "breakfast on the beach,"included in the package. Learn to
surf, ride in a catamaran or simply enjoy the warmth of the sun you have
been thinking about. Witness the giant waves of the North Shore, see
huge fish snorkeling at Hanuama Bay and hike Diamond Head Crater--just a
few of the things planned for this unforgettable trip.
